Goals and Objectives 

Based on the results of the I International saxophone competition Brilliant Note 2000 the board of the competition has decided to organise the II International saxophone competition Brilliant Note 2001 in Staicele in 2001.

The main goals and objectives of the competition are:

  • To promote the opportunity for young saxophone players to meet each other, compete and acquire valuable experience;
  • To bring together both categories of saxophone music academic and jazz;
  • To introduce the audience with the best Latvian academic and jazz saxophone music players as well as foreign saxophone players;
  • To popularise compositions of Latvian composers by choosing them as the compulsory compositions for the participants;
  • To estimate and compere saxophone traditions and education in each country in the context of saxophone music in the entire world;
  • To create competition Brilliant Note as an annual international saxophone competition;
  • The III International saxophone competition Brilliant Note 2002 will take place in the end of July 2002 in Staicele.
