Educated at the Emils Darzins Special School of
Music (1971-1982) and the
Latvian Academy of Music in Prof, Gederts Ramans'
Composition Class
(1982-1987); Master's Degree program in composition
completed in 1992 in
Prof. Peteris Plakidis' class. Attended one month Master
Class taught by
Prof. S.D. Sandstroem at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
In 2001 graduated from Latvian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra and
Opera Conducting Class (Prof. V. Gailis).
In 1986 assumes teaching position at Emils Darzins
Special School of Music
in music theory department. In 1991, appointed the
school's assistant
director and theory department chairman.
From 1999 Dean, from 2002 - Vicerector Latvian Academy of Music,
Professor (2005).
Participant in several international composition
competitions, including
Wiener Internationaler Kompositionswettbewerb
"Casinos Austria". Award
winner in various Latvian choir and chamber music competitions.
Diploma in IV International Sergei Prokofjew Conducting Competition
2003.
