Composer,
has graduated Latvian conservatoires composition class ( with prof. J.
Wihtols , 1934 ). Also studied in Latvian University ( 1928 - 1931).
From 1936 he was working in Latvian Music Academy lecturer of
composition and theoretical subjets, professor from 1952. His music is
full of optimism and epical monumentalism. His composition class has
absolved many popular Latvian composers such as M.Brauns, A.Engelmanis, E.
Goldsteins, A. Grinups, I.Kalnins, R.Kalsons, Ì.Ramans, I.Zemzaris.His
principal works: 2 balets (Brivibas sakta (1950 - 190’), 3 operas, 9
symphonies, and other symphonical works, works for choir, instrumental
chambermusic (Air for cello and piano (1943) - 6’, String quartett
(1936) - 34’).
