Big Sax competition
named after the famous Latvian saxophone player Raimonds Raubisko
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Staicele Town Council
introduces a new tradition - every second year a saxophone competition
“The Big Sax” will be organised in the memory of the famous Latvian
saxophone player Raimonds Raubisko. This year the competition will be
held from July 31 till August 3 in Staicele, Latvia.
The main goals and
objectives of the competition are:
- To introduce the audience with the
best Latvian and foreign saxophone players in academic and jazz
music category;
- To include compositions of Latvian
composers in academic music category of the competition, thus
promoting and popularising the music of Latvian composers in the
world;
- To give the opportunity for people in
Latvia to listen to some of the leading saxophone players of the
world;
- To bring together both categories of
saxophone music – academic and jazz;
- To promote the mastery of the
participants of the “Brilliant Note” competition;
- To popularise the name of the famous
Latvian saxophone player R. Raubisko in the world;
- To organise R. Raubisko competition
“The Big Sax” every second year within the framework of the
“Brilliant Note” competition;
- The next R. Raubisko competition
“The Big Sax” will be held in the end of July 2003 in Staicele.
