Egils Silins

(Egils SILINS). After becoming laureate of the famous "Belvedere'' competition for vocal artists, for three and a half years Egils Silins was engaged at the Stadtische Buhnen Frankfurt am Main. Between 1993 and 1996 he sang for Basel Opera.

Later on Egils Silins proved his talent in several international competitions held in Vienna, Hamburg, Barcelona, Bilbao, Paris, Toulouse and Washington, D.C..

Guest appearances have taken him to Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Geneva, Dublin, Kaiserslautern, St. Gallen, Montpellier, the Bregenz Festival, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and the Glyndebourne Opera Festival.

Egils Silins counts the following roles among those in his repertoire: Barak in "Woman Without Shadows" (Strauss), Lord Sydney in "I1 Viaggo a Reims'' (Rossini), Escamillo in "Carmen" (Bizet), Valans in "Theodore" (Handel), Basilio in "Il Barbiere'' (Rossini), Colline in "Boheme" (Puccini), Sparafucile in "Rigoletto" (Verdi), the title role in "Attila'' (Verdi), Zacharia in "Nabucco" (Verdi) and Fernando in "I1 Trovatore" (Verdi).

From 1996 Egils Silins performs at the Wiener Volksoper and the Wiener Staatsoper, where he debuted with great success in the role of Mephisto in Gounod's "Faust''. His debut in the Staatsoper as Sir Giorgio in Bellini's "I Puritani" with Edita Gruberova brought many accolades from the Viennese public.
