Les Ambassadeurs

Les AmbassadeursFounded by flute virtuoso Alexis Kossenko, Les Ambassadeurs is a pan-European ensemble of period instruments which performs a wide repertoire from early Baroque to classical and romantic music and from chamber ensemble to large orchestral settings. Reuniting passionate interpreters and inspired creators, its mission is to share with as wide public as possible the infinite range of emotions conveyed by the experience of music. Opposed to any dogmas, fashions and schools, Les Ambassadeurs pursues an ideal of eloquence - where the grammar of period instruments, the art of rhetoric and musical instinct do not exclude each other. Among their various projects that include the works of Rameau, Purcell, Mozart and Rossini, Les Ambassadeurs takes particular interest in the rediscovery of the Dresden Hofkapelle, at J.S. Bach’s time described as “the most beautiful orchestra in the world” for its exemplary discipline, virtuosity of its musicians, its shimmering colors which made it the first ‘modern’ orchestra. It was in Dresden that Italian, French and German styles were united and gave birth to the ‘Goûts Réunis’ treasured by Telemann. Following the example of the Dresden Hofkapelle, Alexis Kossenko brings together musicians from all parts of Europe. Les Ambassadeurs & Alexis Kossenko performed in Belgium (Bozar – Palais des BeauxArts, the opening of the MAFestival in 2012) and France (Auditorium du Louvre, Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortot, Opéra Royal de Versailles), in Germany (Festspiele Potsdam-Sanssouci), Austria (Trigonale Festival), Slovenia (Brezice Festival), Poland (Festivals in Poznan, Paradyz and Warsaw), Latvia (International Bach Chamber Music Festival, Riga), Bulgaria (Sofia Baroque Arts Festival), The Netherlands, with large scale works including secular and religious works from Dresden, Rameau’s Dresden and George Frideric Handel’s oratorio Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno. They regularly collaborate with the leading singers such as Sabine Devieilhe, Anders Dahlin, Reinoud Van Mechelen,
Francisco Fernandez Rueda, Blandine Staskiewicz or Delphine Galou. Since its foundation in 2012, Les Ambassadeurs has recorded six CDs.  In 2013, they inaugurated at Alpha a series of discs entitled “Concerti per l’orchestra di Dresda” whose first volume, with music by Vivaldi, received an enthusiastic reception from the critics. Their Rameau disc with soprano Sabine Devieilhe (Le Grand Théatre de l’Amour, on Erato) was awarded by the Diapason d’Or de l’Année 2014, the Diamond of the Opera Magazine, the Caecilia Prize and Grand Prix of the Academy Charles Cros, became a bestseller. Chamber music by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (Trio Sonatas - Flute Concertos), a recital of opera arias by Handel and Vivaldi with Blandine Staskiewicz for Glossa, Ouvertures and Concertos by Telemann (awarded by “Shock of Classica”) were released in 2015. Finally, in 2016, “Cantus”, a pilgrimage through the sacred music, from Bach to Barber, with cellist Christian-Pierre La Marca (Sony) was released. The next recording
« Soave e Virtuoso » devoted to concertos for flute of Tartinim Vivaldi and Samartini will appear in september 2017 at the label Aparté. In 2015-2016, Les Ambassadeurs realized a Rossini tour with Sabine Devieilhe, several concertos with Blandine Staskiewicz, the project “Tempesta”, as well as the triumphant tour of 24 performances of Le Nozze di Figaro (production by Galin Stoev). In 2016-2017, Les Ambassadeurs perform at the Wilgmore Hall in London, the festivals of Saint-Riquier, Pontoise, Moulins / Allier (ClassicaMoulins), Midsommer Barock (Denmark), Feldkirchen (Austria), Esterhaza (Hungary), Postdam and Weimar (Germany).
