Christopher Walsh (USA)

 

Christopher WalshChristopher Walsh is an American conductor and singer living and working in Riga, Latvia. His freelance work as a choral singer, conductor, and early music performer have taken him across Europe and the United States. He works as a conductor with the Emīla Darziņa Mixed Choir and as a singer with the renowned Youth Choir “Kamēr…” Christopher appears regularly at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Riga, where he curates concert performances of liturgical music and conducts the congregational choir.

Christopher is a recent graduate of Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where he received a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and was honored as the outstanding conducting student in his graduating class. At Northwestern, Christopher gained valuable experience studying the theory of early music with Robert Gjerdingen and singing in the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble. His primary conducting teachers include Māris Sirmais, Donald Nally, and Ethan Sperry, and he has worked in masterclasses with Joseph Flummerfelt, Frieder Bernius, Erik Van Nevel, and Andrew Megill.
