Jan van Elsacker

Elsacker

Jan van Elsacker began his musical education as a choirboy at Antwerp Cathedral. He studied singing with Liane Jespers and piano with Frederic Gevers at the Royal Flemish Music Conservatory in Antwerp. Later he worked with Dina Grossberger and followed master classes with NoŽlle Barker. He currently is studying with Tom Sol in Amsterdam.

From 1987 - 1991, he sang with the Collegium Vocale and The Chapelle Royale, La Petite Bande, Anima Eterna and the Flemish Radio Choir. He also worked with the Currende Consort (Erik van Nevel), with whom he produced several recordings for radio, television and also CD's in the series Vlaamse Polyfonie by Eufoda.

As a soloist, Jan sung with the Dutch Bach Society, Musica Antiqua Köln, Currende, Ex Tempore, Akademia, Le Parlement de Musique, I Fiamminghi, Ricercar Consort, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, Capella Musicae Graz, L'Arpeggiata and many other groups.

Together with Jos van Immerseel he gave a recital with songs of Franz Schubert during the Schubert festival 1997 at Bruges and he gives regulary songrecitals with Claire Chevallier, Katia Schoemaker, Tom Beghin, J.van Immerseel.

In 1996 he became a prize winner of the International Soloists Competition „Musica Antiqua Bruges" and was selected for the „Erna Spoorenberg Vocalists Presentation".J.van Elsacker together with Bart Rodyns has set up a new ensemble „Il Trionfo del Tempo".
