 On the concert "Johann Sebastian and other Bachs" you will listen to Johann Sebastian Bach's and his uncles motets. They will be performed by the soloists of Latvian Radio Choir, Ainārs Paukšēns (viola da gamba) and Jāņis Pelše (positive organ). The conductor: Pēteris Vaickovskis.

The International festival of young professionals of baroque music "EAR-ly"

20 June, the International festival of young professionals of baroque music "EAR-ly" took place in Latvia for the first time. It was organized by NORDEM (an inter-Nordic organisation for Early Music) in cooperation with Bach Chamber music festival.

The last round of the competition took place on 20.06., unfortunately only online. Only the chosen participants from the last round arrived for the record. Their names are Augustina Avizbaraite (baroque violine, Lithuania),  Jonatan Bougt (teorba, Sweden), Gertruda Jerjomenko (harpsichord, Latvia) and Maija Kļaviņa (traverso flute, Latvia). The jury listened the online performannce in their homeland. They are all well known professionals: Paolo Pandolf (president of the jury, Switherland), Lisa Beznousik (Grait Britain), Catarina Vicens (Belgium), Mats Lillhannus (Sweden).

 

Our congratulations to JONATAN BOUGT, theorbo player from SWEDEN, who today was awarded the first prize of EAR-ly 2020, the SIXTH NORDEM NORDIC BALTIC COMPETITION FOR YOUNG EARLY MUSIC ENSEMBLES AND SOLOISTS in Riga, Latvia!

The other finalists were Maija Kļaviņa from Latvia (baroque flute), Augustina Vizbaraitė from Lithuania (baroque violin) and Gertruda Jerjomenko from Latvia (harpsichord). An international jury - Lisa Beznosiuk (UK), Paolo Pandolfo (Italy), Italy, Catalina Vicens (Chile/Switzerland) and Mats Lillhannus (Finland) - awarded the prize to Jonatan Bougt for his "graceful playing, stage presence that leads the listener to the music" and for his "elegant and natural way of playing as well as understanding of style and musical rethoric"
It was a grate musical experience to listen to these young talents who certainely keep the ways open for the future of early music!
