On October 27, 2000, The New Chamber Orchestra of Riga made its debut in a filled to capacity Melngalvju Hall. Although this highly successful concert is considered the birth date of the orchestra, this talented group of musicians had been performing together for some time. Since its debut, The New Chamber Orchestra of Riga has received much critical acclaim and public approval. At the present time, the scope of their work is extensive. Besides an impressive concert schedule, the orchestra continues to collaborate with "Figaro" as well as the Latvian National Theatre and various production groups. The orchestra is composed of 43 musicians. Its chef conductor is professor Viesturs Gailis, orchestra director, Ieva Ozolina and concertmaster Liga Muceniece. |
