Eriks Eglitis was born December 13, 1961 in Liepaja, a town from South-West of Latvia. Music theory and cello was studied. He graduated Department of Music Pedagogics of Latvian Academy of Music in 1992.
The first compositions were dated in 1978. Composers works are characterized by neoromantic spirits, tendency to clarity of form and melodious expression. His most favourite musical genre is choir music. Due to voice peculiaritics (basso profundo - one of the lowest basso voice in Latvia) he participated in concert tours in Australia, Austria, Sweden, Poland, Norway, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Vatican, Spain, Italy, Israel, Canada, Russia, Chech Republik. Eriks Eglitis as a member of various choirs is a winner of international music competitions:
In 1995 a paraphrase of theme for mixed choir "Vexilla Regis Prodeunt" by Eglitis was performed in International choir music competition in Kalundborg, Denmark. Other compositions were performed in Latvia, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, USA, Canada and Australia.

Eriks honours art of Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Tolouse-Lautrec, Salvator Dali and paintings of Australian aborigines. The most favourite poets are Alexander Fet, Ojars Vacietis and Imants Ziedonis.
