General Rules
1. The competition will be held at the Augusts Dombrovskis Music
School, Ziemeļblāzmas Street 38 from November 28 to December 3,
2011. The laureates concert will take place at the Great Guild
Hall, Amatu Street 6 (chapter VIII).
2. The competition is open to young violinists, violists and
cellists born after November 28, 1990.
3. An International Jury will evaluate the performance.
4. Deadline for applying with the application form and DVD record
of 2 contrastive pieces is September 1, 2011 (chapter IV).
5. Competitors are required to indicate the length in minutes
of each musical piece in the application.
6. Application forms are available at website www.music.lv/dombrovskis/
7. Competitors will be chosen based on an evaluation of their
DVD records.
8. The competitors that have been chosen will receive notice
personally via email which is noted in application till October1,
2011. As well as the results will be placed at website www.music.lv/dombrovskis/
9. The participation fee is EUR 50 (by remittance participation
fee must be paid by October 15, 2011).
10. The participation fee is non-refundable if the competitor
does not participate in the competition.
11. Accommodation, catering and travel expenses are paid for
by competitors themselves or their schools.
12. Competitors must register at the Competition Secretariat
at the Augusts Dombrovskis Music School, Ziemeļblāzmas Street
38, at determined time, which will be published on the website
from November 1, 2011.
13. If there are any misunderstandings concerning the Competition
Rules, the Latvian text is definitive.

Competition Procedure
14. Competitors will be divided into two age groups and three
groups of specialization (violin, viola and cello):
14.1 Group A Competitors born after November 28, 1995;
14.2 Group B Competitors born at the time from November 28, 1990 till November
28, 1995.
14.3Violists will take part at the Competition in one group born after November
28, 1990.
15. Competition will consist of three rounds (chapter VIII).
16. All the declare repertory must be performed from memory.
17. The playing order of competitors will be determined by drawing of lots for
each group separately and will be maintained throughout the competition.
18. If a competitor due to a valid excuse cannot take part in the drawing procedure,
his lot will be drawn by the organizers. About absence competitor have to inform
organizators via telephone or email (chapter IX) till 5:00 o'clock PM, November
27, 2011
19. In the 2nd Round, no more than 7 competitors from each age group will participate.
In the 3rd Round no more than 3 competitors from each age group will participate.
20. At the laureates concert competition 1.place winners will be accompanied
by the Latvian National Symphony orchestra and will play the entire concert elected
in 3rd round.
21. All phases of the competition will be open to the public.
22. With the written permission of the organizers, all phases of the competition
may be recorded and filmed at no cost to any competitor.
23. In the case the performance surpasses the indicated time, the Jury is entitled
to interrupt the performance. If there is any deviate from the program, Jury
is entitled to not evaluate the performance.
24. All decisions of the Jury will be final and not subject to appeal.

Prizes and Awards
25. The Jury will award diplomas and money prizes to winners of
each group.

26. The Jury is entitled to not award some of the place.
27. A special prize will be awarded for the best interpretation
of Latvian composers compositions from the Latvian Composers Union.
28. Successful competitors will be awarded with additional prizes
by the organizers and other supporters of the competition.

Application
29. The application must be provided not later than September
1, 2011 to the following address:

30. Needed for the application:
The application form with program (to fill in block capitals
[enclosure No.1]);
DVD recording of 2 contrastive pieces;
A copy of a birth certificate or passport;
A brief CV/Resume/Bio (in computer print);
2 photos (3x4cm).
31. The participation fee has to be transferred till October
15, 2011 to
