The Jurmala City Council and the Latvian Piano Teachers Association in collaboration with Ministry of Culture of Latvia are delighted to announce the 5th International Competition for Young Pianists "Jūrmala 2007", that will commence on May 14 and provide the audiences of Jurmala city with truly memorable youthful and creative performances for the whole week. The finals of the competition will be held in concert hall "Dzintari" on a magnificent Steinway grand piano.
Being the only major international piano competition to take place in Jurmala and the second best known piano competition in Latvia, it provides an invaluable opportunity for young concert pianists to further their careers through solo performances and an orchestra debut in the final round. As a result of this competition, the artists of tomorrow are introduced to the audiences of today.
The Jūrmala International Piano Competition, established in 1994, is held every two years. The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities aged 19 years and under.
