Schedule of the Competition
14.05.2007 - 12.00-14.00 registration; 15.00 drawing of lots.
15.05.2007 - from 10.00 - Groups A and B, 1st round (Jurmala music school).
16.05.2007 - from 10.00 - Groups B and C, 1st round.
17.05.2007 - from 10.00 - Group C, 1st round.
17.05.2007 - rehearsal with Latvian National Symphonic orchestra in Dzintari concert hall (Turaidas 1, Jurmala); 11.00-14.00 Groups A and B, 16.00-19.00 Group C.
18.05.2007 - rehearsals with Latvian National Symphonic orchestra in Dzintari concert hall, 11.00-14.00 Groups A and B; 16.00-19.00 - Groups A and B, 2nd round.
19.05.2007 - rehearsals with Latvian National Symphonic orchestra in Dzintari concert hall, 11.00-14.00 Group C; 16.00-19.00 Group C, 2nd round.
20.05.2007 - Final concert.

General Information

Rules
All competition participants fall into the following 3 groups:

Group A - age limit - 8 to 11 years inclusive. No more than 10 participants compete in 2nd round.

Group B - age limit - 12 to 15 years inclusive. No more than 7 participants compete in 2nd round.

Group C - age limit - 16 to 19 years inclusive. 5 participants compete in the 2nd round.

The Competition will be held in the Concert Hall of the Jurmala Music School. The Final round will be held in Dzintari Concert Hall. The Competition will be judged by an international jury. Prof. Juris Kalnciems, the Head of the Piano Department of J. Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, will chair the jury. The symphony orchestra (conductor: Normunds Vaicis) will take part in the 2nd Round of the Competition.

The winners of the competition in groups A, B and C will receive diplomas, titles of laureates and cash prizes:

Group A: 1st place - 300 EUR 2nd place - 200 EUR 3rd place - 100 EUR

Group B: 1st place - 400 EUR 2nd place - 300 EUR 3rd place - 200 EUR

Group C: 1st place - 500 EUR 2nd place - 400 EUR 3rd place - 300 EUR

The Jury has the following rights: not to award all the announced prizes; to award prizes ex aequo, dividing the prize money between two or more competitors. All decisions rendered by the jury will be final and beyond appeal.

Registration Requirements
1. Following documents should be mailed by 1st of April, 2007:

application form (download here ->);

a copy of the birth certificate or passport;

a photograph 4x5 cm (1.57"x1.97");

2. participation fee (Group A - EUR 30, group B - EUR 40, group C - EUR 50) should be paid by April 1st, 2007 to the following bank account:

Accommodation Expenses
1. All travel and accommodation expenses are to be covered by the participants.
