Impressions of the Latvian National Opera Guild’s gala event
Despite the rather cool autumn day and concerns about this being Friday the 13th, the guild's gala event was succssful and well attended.
After a lively cocktail hour with wine and delicious hors d'oeuvers, in the mansions library and sitting room, the guests were invited in the main ballroom for the official part of the evening and concert, followed by dinner and dancing.
In the opening speach, LNOG president, Beatrise Rasums greeted the guests thanking them for their generosity and commitment to help realize the renaissance of the Latvian National Opera and proposed a champagne toast to the faithful supporters of the guild who had made the guild's million dollar milestone in donations possible. The evening's key speaker, director Andrejs Zagars, also thanked the guild for their valuable support which has helped the Latvian National Opera gain its present high recognition as one of Europe's best and most progressive opera houses.
The evening's concert offered a memorable combination of Latvian songs and opera arias by Rossini, Bizet, Mozart and others.
The concert was followed by dinner and dancing.
The Latvian National Opera guild would like to express their gratitude to the evening's esteemed artists, guests and organizers.
