"Ora et cantate"
nature, people, kindness –
These are the key words that Inese
pronounces as soon as she answers the question of what
the Gregorian Music Week means for her. Inese has already
spent five summers in Āraiši.
“People come here from different walks of life, but
they all get on well. It seems that when coming here,
everybody leaves their bad qualities behind. With joint
effort, we create here a truly delightful atmosphere.
I usually come here to sort myself out, to find the
answers to the questions that have been tormenting me,
and to recharge myself for the next stage of my life.
The discipline of the timetable helps you to put yourself
in order. I truly enjoy the special moment after the
evening prayer when the evening dusk is gathering, church
candles are still burning and grass-hoppers are singing
outside. After such a week, saying goodbye is very difficult.
You feel like crying but these are the tears of happiness.
After staying in Āraiši, you feel quite euphoric for
some time… And the feeling of peace that gets to your
heart and soul. But you get the right feeling only after
staying there for a full week.”
